The present building was built in 1905 as one of the initial buildings in Montreat.  It was built by C. E. Graham of Greenville, SC, as a private home.  Mr. Graham helped to finance the founding of Montreat as a 4000 acre conference center.

In July 1954, the former Synod of Georgia hastily endorsed the plans of the Women of the Church of the Synod to purchase a Georgia Home in Montreat.  The former "Hamilton Lodge" was secured from the Reverend and Mrs. Hugh Hamilton.  It was opened as Georgia Home in June 1955 and deeded to the Synod of Georgia.  Over the years it was owned and operated by each succeeding synod as the church was restructured.

On January 1, 1999 the Synod of the South Atlantic deeded the Lodge back to the five presbyteries in the State of Georgia, thus coming back full circle to its beginnings.  Today Georgia Lodge is operated by a Board appointed from each of the five presbyteries.
